Girls of Golden Youth was established in 2022 as the girls arm of the Golden Youth Football Academy. Prior to the launch we collaborated with Super5 presents which was formed as an offshoot of the Super5 league. Super5 wanted to continue their work in making the beautiful more accessible around the world. Due to the work we had already carried out in The Gambia, Super5 reached out and offered their support in helping us launch Girls of Golden Youth. Through a series of fundraising events we were able to raise £XXXX which was used to purchase kit for our girls that was culturally appropriate and factored in the high Muslim population in the country. We were also able to fund a space for them to train on for a year.

Having worked in The Gambia for 8 years, drawing on both feedback from locals and national research we became aware of the lack of support available for a lot of girls in the community. While being respectful of religious and cultural practice we set out to support girls in the community through football. We aim to provide off the field support with education and career support. GOGY aim to collaborate with a number of organisations already carrying out great work in The Gambia such as SPOT, The Asra Running Club & Gems as well as other established girls teams and academies .
